      Elements of Hip Hop:
      1. Break dancing is as good as dead.
      2. Graffiti separated from music and just became it's own entity.
      3. DJing is all about electric music these days.
      4. MCing is probably the last actual one still going strong.
Hip Hop died in 99. Shout out everyone that been trying to keep it alive all these years though.

(Imo of course. Don't let my opinion upset you.)

Man, I believe it’s also a matter of taste. Old stuff just sounds better. Depth, anger, intelligence, irony, wit, however commercial it might have been.
Plus, we should be aware that we live in a capitalistic society: what capitalism does, when challenged by something new, is absorbing it and spitting it out all shredded. The real difference is that some artists are able to resist the process. I think it takes courage now for the artists in general not to become mannequins. Therefore, in my opinion, the difference between fake and real rappers is the same as between real and fake artists, regardless of the field the operate in.

There is no real versus fake hip hop Muurs. These are false equivalences. Also, ur premise is based on a logical (informal) fallacy. Speak to some real "old heads", cause all I hear u repeating is this stereotypical bs that I usually hear out of the much younger generation, however not from any of my "old head" contemporaries. This so-called "real" vs argument predates so-called mumble rappers. It began in the mid to late 80s with an act called DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

Here’s my two cents: all these new cats have had over three decades to look and study at the rap they could be influenced by. You’re telling me this is the best they could do??? It’s lazy hot garbage. NO ONE will be listening to their shit in the next ten years because it has nothing to offer. Garbage rappers.

Why’d you have to show the worst DAS EFX song ?? could’ve went with Check It Out, Rappaz.. anything. They’re VERY lyrical and put effort into their music. Then people started copying their style and basically robbed them from their success lol

Did you really just compare using an 808 with using autotune? It's not "just all tools". You're comparing a machine to make beats on with a vocal effect that is effectively a cheat. There's no cheating with an 808, you still have to create a beat. I've been around since The Fat Boys and earlier, never heard anyone diss an 808. Autotune has been wack since Cher introduced it. At least she only messed with it once on one song but the cat was out of the bag.

I dont think there’s such a thing as “fake hiphop” its more like… uninspired. Its hiphop, it has its place.
The breakdown of “what did it originally mean” just seems like irrelevant semantics to me. Interesting for sure, but not important to whether or not someone is hiphop

Someone needs to educate Murs on the difference between 90s Rap vs Hip Hop. You can't put these two in the same category. MC Hammer was destroyed by gangster Rap. That's why he came out later acting more gangster out of desperation for his career. This movement also killed Biggie Smalls & Tupac. The next thing Murs needs to understand is commercial rap/hip hop vs underground. True hip-Hop culture = MC,B-boy, graffiti, & DJ'ing. Then Rap came & removed everything but MC (NWA) destroying Hip Hop. Now rap is destroyed by this mumbo-jumbo . What's next?

No joke: everytime Das EFX plays my head is noddin', then this Migos guy comes up I'm gettin' uncomfortable immediately.
I even struggled to get through these short clips showing those "Gucci / Versace" guys.
I respect Murs a lot but for me this isn't comparable. It's not only about the lyrics, it's also about identification and authenticity.

When Run DMC came out and kicked off the new school era and made hip hop more legit, that's an example of positive evolution and forward movement. Even tho they sounded a lil different, they were still hip hop and did the past justice. Same thing with the 90s and even early 2000s. IT STILL WAS THE SAME HIP HOP. It just evolved a lil bit. However, after around 05 06, the deemphasis of lyrics kinda sounded strange to guys that knew original rap. And mumble rap and 2010s trap is even more of a far cry. As long as it did justice to the originators while still remaining present, it's real hip hop to me.

This tends to piss people off but almost all rappers are fake. I don't care if it's old school or new school. The realest rappers are the ones you never hear of. The rest all rap in present tense as if they're about drugs, money, bitches. While being married with kids and laughing at all the suckers beefing it out and killing themselves in the streets while they chill in their air conditioned mansions. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it and interpret their songs/find good in them. Just know that most are selling you a fake image.
