Aside from the fact I agree this particular video of Thoughty2 contains a lot of contradictions and arguable or incorrect facts, I think it's a little sad you pretend to take a "random video" that just so happens to be his only video on the subject of music, which after a quick look at the other videos on your channel I have to conclude is the only subject you have a lot of knowledge about. You set his whole channel in a bad light while he actually has some really interesting video's for people who don't have a lot of inside knowledge on the particular subject. I agree the titles of his videos sound a lot like clickbait, but he's got some pretty interesting and entertaining content without the need to heckle a person by pointing out flaws in their facial expressions (while you yourself don't have the guts to show your face even once in this video's) and pretty childishly make fun of them by replacing their face with a glass of beer, just because you are so cool that you drink beer and are (surprisingly but apparently) old enough to drink it. That being said I have no doubt you have a lot of knowledge on the subject of music, just please pursue gaining even more knowledge and wisdom in that subject. And leave the haters, people who disagree with you and the people who are just plain wrong be. Don't become a hater, because it would be a waste of your intelligence.
So, I tend to listen to a lot of alt music but I WILL listen to Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears without any thought. Holy hell you fuckers act like music is shit now.
used to watch this guy a few years ago but at some point realized he just pumps out sensationalist shit that isn't well-researched or presented and have steered clear ever since. just from looking at his channel page, it doesn't look like that has changed (for the better, at least). good on ya for tearing into this bullshit, it's appreciated

Okay but then how do I explain my not liking most pop music I hear today compared to on average enjoying far more music from before, say, 2010? If music isn't measurably getting worse then that could mean that it's an entirely subjective matter, that what's popular now isn't to my tastes, and I don't want to believe that. I want to think of myself as an intellectual goliath, whose likes and dislikes aren't swayed by inferior, animalistic, instinctual things like subjectivity. I want to be a perfect, fully self-actuated human being whose thoughts and opinions represent an unimpeachable universal truth. Music has to be getting worse, it just has to! Any other explanation is simply unacceptable.
I say this in jest but boy is it frustrating to not like the majority of music I hear these days. And having something or someone other than myself to blame nice.

This argument is ridiculous. Music is not math were the answer is undebatable. Music is preference. If i say Justin Bieber's music is better than Freddie Mercury or BTC's music is better than The Ramones or Ashley Simpson's music is more pleasant than Ludwig van Beethoven, that is it. It's preference. The same as people's preference of food taste.

I think I could have said what Thoughty was getting at more succinctly: The musical era that had Boston, had Boston. All subsequent musical time periods do not, hence, decline.
