the original is faster paced than the popular cover, but the pace being kind of frantic suits the lyrics…a mad world..people running in circles going nowhere…the frantic rat race humans are caught in
@jaws5263 I don't care if I would get made fun of at your school because I'm way older than you are and all you can do is swear at me. Like I haven't heard non-dictionary words coming out of the mouths of juvenile males before?
@sad2002 It's okay. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion. I find Roland's interprative dancing with his guitar to be quite entertaining as well. 🙂
@CelesteK I am highly entertained by Roland's "mad dance" at 2:17-2:29 with the hand moves. I did not mean to diss Curt but I had no clue they did this song until the movie Donnie Darko. I have this vague memory that I saw some of their videos and Roland always caught my attention. I like that he dances when he performs.
Being honest, for these lyrics, this song is way to up-beat, gary jules did a great job with the acoustics and timing. but bravo to these guys for making the song.

As 17 year old then, I bought the record as I "liked" the music …. on listening to the lyrics I thought to myself "how profound"
5,000 x better than gary jules lol
Love tears for fear, there's no replacement!!
yes they were copied later in a movie
It's funny but at the time we all thought that haircut was great……mmmm
Exactly
that microphone is sooooooo small !!!!
This song is so good! Slow it down and it's even better. Who knew?
yes, and quite a bad one ;o)
That is some sexy hair.
@gdtjohnson Gary Jules made a cover of this song for Donnie Darko's movie.
Definitely better as a depressing song. Doesn't really seem right being all up-beat
forgive me, but who is gary jules?
I prefer Gary Jules' cover, but we should also acknowledge who created the song's melody and lyrics in the first place.
@marumaru54 i know but in todays time the gary jules cover is more known
@gangsta6196 it's a personal preference I guess- though I somehow doubt Gary Jules' cover was more famous than the original, back in its day
@marumaru54 IMO, gary jules made this song famous, he made this song great, cant stand listening to the original version..
@CheckeredComedy
U MAD?
;0)
i was about 15 when this was released and it summed up the world to the kids of that time
@jaws5263 Wow. You're cool, with your meaningless insults and overly argumentative personality.

@jaws5263 BTW you have a very impressive vocabulary. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

@sad2002 Ahh. Thanks for clarifying that. 🙂 When I saw what you said about performing I automatically assumed that you meant the singing. 🙂
@CelesteK sorry….perform as in play the guitar in this video 🙂

@sad2002 Um Roland isn't the one who's singing this song. Curt is singing this son. 🙁
@jaws5263 You sir are an idiot!!! 😛 And Boy George O'Dowd isn't British! He's Irish. 😛
@filthyjester Roland certainly has stage presence. I like his Mad dance. His voice is amazing.
Roland wrote this..
Fook 'versions' lol…
this is it.
Cute Curt!!!
awesome tune.
uncle jim
2:17-2:29 the guitarist danced strangely,,, 😀
@CheckeredComedy That microphone doesn't look funny at all – compared to his hair!
this songs like reverse phsycology, its sad but upbeat to cheer you up
@perpetual61 oh o.o XD nice, thnx
@CheckeredComedy y
