Lol. She’s out of touch with reality. A millennial being that successful at 22???
I laugh.
At the minimum end, i’d say it’s 26 pushing 27 to have at least had a master’s degree and enough work experience (at least 2 years I imagine) to get the respect of your boss. And that’s if she’s on that really extroverted, go-getting, over acheiving career path which in fairness Emily looks like she is.
22 is just far fetched when millennials today on average get their life together at around 30 give or take.
Love,
An introverted 26 year old millennial with a master’s degree who has yet to put her life together despite having had a high level internship just last year.
Lily Collins is a cute girl a royal princess in Hollywood, I know she got many fans, so this is not against her as a person. I am purely talking about the character, I think we are just disappointed that the writing is a bit poor . And the writer and director of the show didn't think it through how to make her character more convincing to our audiences. Thus created such confusion. Anyways , back to work stuff if we were to have a discussion on this, for any young girls out there fresh grads or not and trying to enter the work force and wishing to be in the social or marketing business , in a real world working in an international marketing firm or a large well known global marketing company , its very competitive, very VERY competitive. A fresh graduate or only worked for less than 2 years in marketing will never be able to replace her boss to go to Paris to "coach" or " set a guide book " or to " instruct an American point of view " to the Paris team ( let alone any other cities in the world ) about marketing or social strategy. / UNLESS, if your marketing company is relatively small for example, less than 3 or 5 staff , a boutique marketing firm, you may have a chance to go travel , lucky you ( though the finance and HR will not approve a large budget for you to travel, maybe a task force for a week tops and not in 5 star hotel , this cost too much for company to handle , they may have to split the bill of her manpower hourly or weekly or monthly cost between Paris and Chicago team , pending on company policy ) , but if you got a job in a major big corporate marketing film there will be about 30 + staffs of associates, managers, directors and vice presidents in marketing. And many International strong marketing grads speak and write more than two languages. So the chances are quite low for young executives to go, most likely must be senior manager or director above to go, as they could be held accountable for marketing campaigns' success or lost , the key is those senior exec they have strong social skills, maturity level and able to control their emotions and stress level in a competitive workplace. Back to social , the social plan is one piece of a marketing plan, marketing budget and planning will need an extensive knowledge on P&L, supply chain, finance budget, digital strategy, research & data analysis , offline events, social strategy, KOL plan ,experience in manage a team and handle agencies across regions, all together a wholesome marketing srategy , some digital plan if the budget is small, takes 2 to 3 weeks but most big campaigns take 6 months to one year to plan and execute and having finance to approve the large marketing spent . If the company only relies on social KOL strategy, then it could be a social company or a small PR agency or a digital firm. That is , unless this young fresh grad is the owner's daughter or slept with the owner to get that position. Reality bites. Welcome to the real world.
As a 23 year old women I identified with Emily and actually know a lot of people her age that are career oriented and make good money. This video kinda annoyed me because just because you don’t personally know someone like that doesn’t make it not possible. I grew up in poverty and graduated college a year ago and I wouldn’t say her life is so drastically different from mine. Like I said a lot of my friends could be Emily easily
Zo she might be 22 or 26 or 24 ? …ehhh, why does it even matter what the # is ? Real life or in a movie, why does it even matter ??
Just enjoy it ?
When I watched I thought she was 28 at least 26
Relax people! She's just trying to not be classified as too old to play the part.
I have met successful, goal-oriented types like Emily, but 22 is not quite right…at the youngest 25. I would guess that Emily is more like 27. She supposedly has a masters degree and does high level marketing and manages social media for Savoir?? If the character actually is 22 on the show, then it is a more far-fetched tv than I realized! I can understand why Lily Collins would think Emily is 22 since the character on page seems super young.
I always I assume she was like 33, considering Lilly Collins is already in her 30s that’s makes more sense .
I loved it!waiting for season 2
