Beef. The Source and XXL went at it. But how’d it start? Who took the L? Who came out on top? And most importantly what did it mean for the culture?

all my Love to The Source,,,,fk politics
What really killed The Source's credibility was in '03 when they turned around and gave The Chronic 5 mics; ten years after the fact. They looked like clowns after they pulled that shit.
Online articles are way more accessible, but they don’t give you the same feeling of flipping through a magazine
Shout out to Ozone as well. Based out of Orlando and became one of hip hop's top magazines in the 2000s. The Source had beef with them too.
this guy is sell out, look it up
the source "awards" was the beginning of the end for the source
The source magazine was awesome
I like the heavy rotation column
Did anyone else prefer Vibe over both of these or just me?
XXL is awesome than the source
Did u mean Eminem and xxl squashed the beef?? Cuz the beef between the source and shady didn’t die out til later after 50 cents n gunit time even longer I think. And xxl still hit prison yard I seen a few the most recent was a drake issue
I quit reading the Source when it became 20 pages of Benzino ads for his records.
That bowie low picture on the poster wall yeeeeesssss
I'd still buy a hip hop mag if it was like the source back in the mid 90's
BLAZE, BABY! THE HIPHOP MAG FOR PRODUCERS….
says the man who says he liked rap devil more ….smh
great video but does anyone know what that Murs WWE style title belt is above his head? seems bit out of place with the backdrop
Perhaps the source started as a newsletter in 88, but was 100 percent full swing by 98.
Clearly xxl won not only did it commit suicideby fuckign with eminem but he also took there side even tho he didnt like them either

Dang
This is way simpler than youre making it sound. XXL vs Source was pretty insignificant in the downfall of hip hop magazines compared to the takeover of internet blogs. In 1998, when no one even had a computer in their house, the only way youre getting hip hop news is picking up the source. Time passed, things changed and now you just have to pick up your phone and check DJ Akademiks page. Not really a loss in my eyes either, news on the internet is free, magazines were a sensationalized weekly money grab.
Elliot Wilson killed XXL just as Benzino killed The Source.
Shady got a nice ass tho ?
THIS IS THE SAME MURS FROM SRIBBLE JAM RIGHT?
