My friend Taylor loved playing this album at work. Usually he was listening to country and singing at the top of his lungs. I hated it. But man I miss it. And I wish I could walk in hearing this album playing knowing that he was there.
Taylor was killed in a car accident about a week ago. I went through a lot to try and find this album and I am so happy I finally did. I cried as soon as I heard the first note. I can still hear him singing along.
Agree with other comments, but I also get the odd Beatles vibe a fair bit of John Lennon 70s feel too. For example, Every Man Needs A Companion if you sped it up to pop would be suited to the Beatles. Even little things like how the guitar plays on fade out. And some other tracks with that echo chamber voice and high mix piano/drum sass.
ever since I started listening to FJM I can't listen to anything else. I'm so grateful for his music. can you imagine if he stayed a drummer in Fleet Foxes? Imagine how many other geniuses are out there not putting their work out there. God, I can't wait for the next album.
