It’s not the opposite it’s the same thing, whether it’s a cat-call or an attack on appearance, it’s still making a woman a target based on her appearance.

I think Joe’s point is valid even if it does seem like he missed Ari’s. Don’t turn a troll saying something mean about you into an indictment on black men as a whole. If you want people to have sympathy you can’t start off your rant insulting them.

Perhaps she has been ignoring and not giving energy to people that have said nasty things about her and she has finally stood up for herself and other black women that have experienced that same thing and have been hushed for however long.

This annoyed me! Especially the portion about Ari. This wasn’t a comment or tweet from a regular person — that comment (tweet) came from some from a major magazine. Someone who’s suppose to be “reporting” news, etc. Her point was that black men don’t step in and protect black women. They don’t have our backs like white men have white women, and other races. That’s what she meant. This is why men need to listen more. Just because you say “what she said is correct” doesn’t mean your protecting her. Your overall opinion is still saying she’s being “emotional”. Women can say how they feel and not be pressed or labeled emotional. That’s an issue as well. I’ll probably never watch a clip from this podcast again. But that’s just me. Y’all, annoying? minus the white guy he actually seemed rational.

Go in a Peurto to an hood” as someone that is half Cuban with an Afro Latino mother, ari Lennox’s complaints aren’t valid. You have a Hispanic woman in your home with her ethnic face that still thinks she’s above black women.

It's so sad to see this conversation mostly dissolve into talking about internet bullying and being too sensitive to it. I'm not even black and I can see clearly the hatred darker skin black women get is on a whole other level than light skinned black women who have more European features. Why shouldn't she speak out on the bullshit she sees? Why is her speaking out on it more of a problem than the actual problem? There is a REASON so many black women lighten their skin and get nose jobs, and it's not just because they feel put down by white people but by their own people. But Ari speaking out on it is the problem? Are black women supposed to just accept it because if they speak out they are being the "triggered, angry black woman" damn, I'm glad I'm not a black woman cause they really do get it from every which way and to be put down more by their people for speaking out is bullshit. You're supposed to stick together but I just see so many black men wanting to deflect away from the conversation of what black women go through, it's always "what about" or a subject change.. it's a damn shame really.

Actually there are tons of black women who would call Lil Baby for example also ugly and would compare him to a dog or something like that.
Same scenario as with Ari. Does he get in his feelings like that and starts generalizing all black women? Nah

Joe's point kind of flew over Rory's and Mal's head.
They were just talking about not giving a random ass internet person so much power over you ( completely true)
But what Joe was getting at is that this random person, and it was probably just one person , said something offensive about Ari.
And what did Ari do? She got in her feeling and generalized all the (black) men ,who apparently are the only ones who insult their own queens like that etc.
I'm white and fuck it we also call white women insulting things like dog, whale etc. Can't speak for hispanics but I'm sure they insult each other even worse than " Oh you're looking like a dog but you still a sexy"
It's not a race thing, and she should stop generalizing all men. She just got butthurt
That's like I would be saying all women do that kinda generalizing bullshit.

They totally reduced this very real issue to Ari being insecure and internet trolling. I checked out of this podcast after I saw how Mal and Ice's tweets were treated. I came back hoping they'd grown and expanded their minds or in the very least brought a black woman on to assist and aide them in convos like this, but no….. You'll are not equipped to lead conversations like this. Yeah I'm good. This disconnect SOME black men have in regards to the plight of black women is crazy. Shout out to the amazing woke ass black men who get it though.

Isn't Joe conducting himself he says that Ari should be secure enough not to respond to negative comments but he ended up going on a rant about how he's offended that she said black men disrespect black women. Joe does make some good points but why is it that he is the only one that can be blunt but when people are blunt about him he can't take it.

I just can't say dumbass big enough bold enough or loud enough at this moment. Joe my darling, when you open your mouth is like you are showing us and the world why so many black women have so little respect for the average black man. One would think you were related to Mitch McConnel with your dry insensitivity.
BW are learning very quickly to be more strategic and selective about the support that we give to BM, if at all! I don't know why it's so hard for a BM to show some type of sympathy and respect and understanding to BW when she gets insulted, bashed and disrespected on such a public level. But you want us to support your ass when you need bail money, when the police done whacked you upside your head a few times, to stand by your side when you catch a case, or when you need start up funds, or hell when you ain't got shit to your name but want us to hold you down, or when you need this pussy and whatever else type of support that women give men. It's becoming disgusting. Black men are starting to look more and more stupid because you have white folks who understand the plight of a black woman who understand anti-blackness who understand colorism but the black man is still sitting there looking like duh…and says stupid shit like you being sensitive stop being insecure. All anyone has to do is watch this vid and you'll see why BW are dropping yall left n right for non black men who at the very least show more understanding than a muthafkn BM. Ayo Joe, was you being sensitive sweating it out wit yo leather vest?! Gtfoh

hmm. I feel this is the instance is where we keep in expecting our strong friends to remain strong. When do we start checking on our strong friends asking if they are okay and keeping the "trolls" accountable. I think she did great by turning it around and leaving the questions out there for people with a conscious to continue the needed conversations and introspection in our spaces.

It used to be one on one. Like “you I dont think you’re attractive” and its just u two. Now people retweet, like an comment what u say about me. And that makes it hurt more. If its just me and u, its just us. I go home tell my mom n she says “am I ugly? Then you arent my child” but now 200/1000 of those comments agree. Damn this era sucks.
