I think that mumble rap shouldn't really be held in the same regard as more lyrical styles but should be looked at from a different lens as opposed to comparing lil xan to Biggie smalls etc. but there are definitely some great modern day rappers and new school rap should be more appreciated (still tho old school is better)

I respect kendric, drake etc, but i don't feel like mumble raping is'nt hiphop, for example trippie, 6ix9ine etc. you may disagree with me, but when you rap with the beat and can hear the meaning, but when u rap and u don't hear their voice it don't feel like hiphop, it feels more like it should be in another category. That's just my opinion tho.

I don’t think it comes down to a culture thing it’s just that a lot of people dislike change. Yeah I hate the music too but it’s still real just different.

I think the problem is the ratio of wack rappers to good rappers is way higher than it was in the golden era. Yes, of course today we have Kendrick and Freddie Gibbs etc etc, but there’s also 10x as many wack rappers as there ever has been. THATS the problem that “old heads” have, and rightfully so.

There's nothing wrong with expanding hip hop. But some of it should be categorize. Because everything that rhymes isn't hip hop. Nor is everything with a beat is hip hop. Although it's more different styles today. I'm gonna start out with an old school group whom in my opinion are OVERRATED. & it has nothing to do with color. In fact, if it wasn't for rhyming words every now & then, you could easily mistake their sound as Rock. & that's The Beastie Boys. 3rd Bass are far more hip hop than they are. But just like the now OVERRATED Eminem, Beastie Boys album sales are a lot better. Speaking of Eminem, he too has a bull? soft brock sound. Then there's the Nelly type style or shall I say hip pop. There's R&B aka rap & blues, club hop, alternative hip hop, mumble, tongue twisting, & as Jermaine Dupri call to he strip dressed female artist a strappers. ? Not fair for REAL ? to be matched against a bangin beat & just a fart every other bar, that becomes, that's my song. & #1 on the he charts the following week. Just my personal thoughts.

I mean i do get your point, it makes me very happy that the black brothers and sisters got a better life through rapping and don't got to struggle no more, but i feel like having a good life makes people soft, and that ends up going to their music, i miss the hardcore oldschool rap

Kanye is the only thing i dont agree with. Kanye is trash, has always been trash, and will always be trash. i will get hate for it, but that is how i feel. Cole is one of the best, and his label is bringing back that dope lyricist story teller feeling.

Yea and the hackers put on streams for money, is that art or just business?
It easier it gets to access to music it easier to tell people what is good. I think that music should do have a meaning, like jimi said (the hendrix) and i go it this way. HipHop is Jazz, it's a play as u said, its a game to play with each other like a fight, but mostly to carry the torch of your and mine ancistors.. It's the way of reflection, cause writing let u think about urself and a way of teaching, a mastery..

You can't even say what HipHop is, yea it's a glimmery shiny star in the night of drowning. It's more like a shaman goes into a dungeon just with his self, to see what he's for. For some HipHop is not the way they dress, it is a living soul..

but who's right? Guess the war for the right is also not HipHop.. so be blessed and stay cheezy
