I lived half mile from this fire in Thornton, UK. No way to extinguish such a blaze.

Urban renewal. First come the arsonists, then come the general contractors.

Yeah, the only thing you can do is to keep the fire from spreading outside.

About all that can be done is to control the burn – not let it spread to other buildings and areas that would ignite from heat and airborne embers. There is no saving this historical mill – it is a goner and the fire department wasn't going to sacrifice engines and equipment to this inferno.
So sit back, pop a beer or soda, have some peanuts and enjoy the show!

when they arrived there was no signs of fire might be because FB s in USA are not fit for purpose ONE hose in the same spot , all the vids iv been watching its the same thing firemen taking a long time to respond then running around like headless chickens and it always ends in the building being dosed total loss before they decide to put water on it. a lot of comments say they risk there lives each day heroes that dont get paid enough , thats there job and they dont even get dirty clean uniforms galore

A complex of Mills? The property looked to be historic. What was the cause of the fire?

No sense of even trying to put those burners out, just let them burn and protect the neighborhood.

I would assume that the City of Woonsocket has more than one aerial ladder, but there again, who am I, to assume anything. Good film footage, thank you.

My father worked at a mill in the Woon area for 25 yrs. He always said that if it ever caught fire, it'd be an instant inferno cuz the heavy structural wooden beams and thick wooden floors had a hundred yrs of oil within them. His mill did eventually burn in 1978. The massive brick walls crumbled.

These old factories( a lot of them) are really beautiful looking buildings and they would make great Apartments offices Etc..

The problem like some of the comments stated is 100 gears and more of saturated flooring with machine oil ! So if you get an apartment and one of these kind of buildings you make damn sure they stripped that place bare when they were building it !

Very much like a citrus packing house fire – control the fire and protect the other building in the area.

Fire boys playing with their toys and getting nothing done once again. Just let it burn out while you protect adjacent property. That's all you need to do. Can't believe they go to school for this.
