They handled Tim's Robin very well. He's the Robin I grew up with. I think DC learned from the mistakes they made with the Jason Todd character as well. They took their time building up Tim's character that felt more organic. Tim made Robin cool in the 90s. I have all the "gimmick" covers from all the Robin miniseries. And yeah, the early design for the Huntress was not great. Lol. Once she got a full suit that covered her whole body, it felt more practical. But by then they established her as a much better character. The Nightwing/Huntress miniseries was pretty good too. I think that was by Greg Rucka. But I'm getting way ahead of myself, we have Knightfall looming big on the horizon. I'm just about done reading the 3rd Omnibus now. I've read all of Knightfall for the hundredth time now. I remember hunting all of the tie in comics and preludes to Knightfall and beyond. It started my comic book obsession. I've rambled on enough. Take care and be well. See you at the same Bat-time on the same Bat-channel. Lol
Batman zurr en arrh ?
Needs a little bit of attention
I'm looking forward to your future videos! Knightfall is a pretty cool story, and I'm sure you'll do an excellent job picking apart what worked and what didn't. Maybe you could also mention how influential Knightfall was in making "big" Batman stories in the future — the kind routinely collected in TPB nowadays (No Man's Land, War Games, etc).
11:50 AT LONG LAST!
Love your videos. Thanks for the hard work!
Excited to hear your take on the mental anguish zsasz puts on Batman, sword of Azrael and thoughts on the Jean paul armor!
The character arc of Tim Drake was compelling and entertaining. It is a Shame DC comics have ruined his character.
Great work as always!
great episode, can´t wait for knightfall
What I'm curious of being covered in knightfall is your response to Bane being defeated by Azrael masquerading as Batman. In a way it shows how pathetic Bane is. Yeah he's able to deduce Batman's secret identity and beat him, but he's beating him in an unfair fight and loses in a later fight to a fake
Best Robin. No doubt ¡Amazing Work!
Don't worry about the hair. In a few years Mike Wieringo will jump on the monthly and give Tim the most badass 90's teen hair ever
Man the solo Robin stories are really good I also like the struggles he has with being a superhero and balancing living a normal life reminds me of Spider-Man and Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan)
So how did Batman get sick prior to Knightfall
KGBeast is always either an unstoppable monster that pushes Batman to his limits or a weak C-lister that gets beat up by everyone.
I have to check this one. I would like to say something about Knightfall's magic: what makes Batman Batman is neither his gadgets not his badassery, but his dedication to scaring criminales and protecting innocent from the tragedy he had to endure as a kid.
For your Knightfall series I think you should cover each issue in the order of the most recent trade paperback collections cover sword of Azreal (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and go into detail about Batman's struggles in the story and the struggles of his supporting cast and focus on characterization of each villain who appears in the story.
Next episode : The Bat is broken. Batman is no more…
Next time on Salazar Knight: "Gentlemen meet Bane!" "Are you sure this guy can take down The Batman?" " Just because he wears a mask doesn't make him some kind of Superman!" Bane: " There is much more to me than meets the eye."
Tim Drake from the 90s is my favorite Robin . He always had the best suit and his solo Robin run was pretty great , just as good as Nightwing imo.
I'm not bothered by how Tom Lyle draws hair besides it's DC had great artists in the 90's when Marvel had a lot of real shitty artists back then.
I like Tim Drake and his solo series, I think Chuck Dixon makes an excellent job there, by making simple stories interesting, unfortunately I can't tell the same for Catwoman solo series :/ I think he is the most qualificated boy among the other Robins for the job. He is a natural born detective and trained by the best fighters like lady shiva. Dick is good , too sure but we often see him struggling with detective work?
4:56–5:05 To be fair when Dick Grayson and Jason Todd were Robin they didn't wear long pants nor long selves heck I remember a few Batman comics from the 40's that were Christmas specials and Robin was wearing his costume arms and legs exposed.
Yay! Knightfall! I would like to see all of it. I'm so excited ?
Amazing video! Robin III is truly amazing. Tim feels so realistic and his struggles perfectly illustrate what a teenage crime fighter would feel and go through. I also adore Huntress’ inclusion, her and Tim have such an underrated friendship and it’s great to see how they first met.
And I can’t wait for Knightfall! Can we expect a Sword of Azrael video?
How did K G beast survive?
And why do so many people say that Batman killed him if the beast survived?
2:06 to 2:13 I say you did a good job pronouncing it.
My favourite robin is the OG himself Richard Grayson
Can't wait for Knightfall! I'm also excited to hear your opinion on The Long Halloween!
