If we talking about street cred then Biggie and Nas can’t be GOATS!!

Biggie rhymed about a 2 Bedroom shack, and his mum came out at his height of fame to debunk that. Big was the rich kid who had street friends…

Nas is well known to not have lived that life just documented it, same can be said about Cube. But they are GOATS… also let’s not let hood niggaz speak for the rest of us…they ain’t the brightest bunch and their life/ world is round the corner, down the street, where the drug dealers and prostitutes meet (that’s a Jay lyric) anyway what I’m saying is their world is small and simple mnded, and if a rapper ain’t rapping that bang bang shoot em up shit, these simpletons can’t relate….SMH….also if Em came out rapping that gangster shit…he would be just another rapper that would have ahead a 2-3 buzz….

      Anyway so called
Hood niggaz don’t speak for me!!

Anyone who is willing to sell poison to their own people, shoot their own people but run from the police?? Ain’t gangster to me….STOP IT……

The argument stoopid. It's like saying white jazz musicians are irrelevant.

Clearly Royce Da 59, Proof and D12, Obie Trice and 50 Cent all love and respect Eminem, not to mention Dre must have recognized his talent at the time.

Is street credibility necessary to be the GOAT?
Honestly, it's very yes and no and is very subjective nowadays.

Because the streets don't value MC's like they used to, for example nowadays, look at what the streets now considers cool and is subjected to.
All these dumb whack mumble rappers and rappers that glorify taking drugs and overdosing and being "more hood."
When back in the 80's and 90's, rappers were all about selling drugs, hustling and grinding, and getting out of the hood and bettering yourself.
It's like the hood and culture of Hip Hop did a complete 180 on itself.

So the street's value of an MC and the overall culture has greatly diminished over the years and have their priorities fucking backwards.
So to that degree I say no

But to the core and the roots of the origins of Hip Hop where it all began, the hood and the streets(whatever you wanna call it) has to have respect for you and can't just be 100% whack in their regards.
And Eminem is respected in the hood/streets as an MC and his lyrical ability. They not be bumping without me and my name is on rotation, but he has respect in the streets/hood. Even MC's like big daddy kane, rakim, nas, kool g rap all respect Em for his abilities.
Which are all MC's the hood considers their GOAT's.

So overall Lord Jamar's point is all over the place and is a bit hypocritical and mostly a race issue with how he addresses it.

Eminem is definitely a GOAT when it comes to his lyrical and technical ability, that's now not even up for debate. He's solidified as a top 10 MC as far as technical and lyrical ability goes.

I know I'm late but Charlemagne just argued that Em (specifically) couldn't be a GOAT because he wasn't played in the clubs. By that logic, several rappers are cut out of the conversation. Too commercial? Not commercial enough? Too street or not street enough? I guess it depends on who you're talking about. Some can do no wrong while some can do nothing right.

Riddle me this Batman, can these guys say who the first guys were to make the FIRST rap song without looking at google? Or what it's about? Maybe quote some lines?

The Sugarhill Gang did "Rapper's Delight" in the 1970's. It was about introducing themselves and just talking about what they know. Like having bad food at a friends house and the different colors of people who they need to introduce their music to. Lol Black men may have done it first, but even in the FIRST SONG they talk about the colors of listeners. So everyone can shut up about color in the game. Color being an issue that would keep ANYONE from being the top of anything, IS RACIST.
