He's just exploring new stuff. He'll go back to dreamlike songs before long, and besides, if you are a true fan, you should love his music regardless.

These songs, for the most part, actually sound original, and not just like the same thing by Adam Young. I have a great feeling about this album! His single with Carly Rae Jepsen is pretty great too.
It's certainly like the music is accommodating his voice and not the other way around like it was before.
I'm going to agree that owl city has changed his genre alot, but I think the change is going to get him alot more fans. Last year I made my friends listen to most of the songs on the ATBAB album, and they didn't like it. A few days ago I made them listen to this EP, and they love Owl City now.

Sure, I can still feel his essence. But we can't deny the lyrics of his new songs aren't as magic as the ones of Fireflies and Strawberry Avalanche, for example.

I thought I wasn't going to like these at all but it's just his voice makes me like them… It's like I can't not!! 🙂 But I do prefer his older stuff it just had a mystery in it like it was magic 🙂
I genuinely feel like he was pushed to make more generic music to fit to a wider audience. I could be totally wrong. And it may just be because I'm used to more electronic music or less generic rock, but I just can't get into this new stuff. :c
Well, I have to say I miss that magical, dreamlike atmosphere of his older songs. The new ones are still great but his style really changed.
Why am I the ONLY one who doesnt like his new stuff? This song is okay, but all the others are just disappointing to me. 3: His old music is like fucking magic.
