Money definitely takes the edge off creativity. Its the same in many different industries. As soon as money becomes highest priority, creativity will suffer. Listening to cash, money, cash, chains, rich, money, paper, cash, makin it rain, cash all the time gets tiring to hear after a while as well.
Depends what they do with the money and what it represents for them. If a rapper that came from nothing made it, I think they earned the right to be proud (Not in a way to show-off with it), but to use it for the better, Hell yeah. If it's just about showing you got money and shit, Fuck no.

What we have is a problem of culture, not craft, it is the culture that the craft caters to and the whole debate is a matter of mistaking cause for effect.
The moment that we as a society, and the culture we embrace, start being less materialistic, we would surely see music following suit. But as of now, this is what we have to deal with.
Music lost it's flavor as a whole because of money and this technology hungry generation, the further back you go the more artists had to build themselves/their fanbase/their genres over long periods of time and becoming rich over music was very rare and a very hard and long grind.
