Nice seeing jimmy again…. I haven't seen him for a long time, what happened?.. I spent years as a kid wishing he would fix it for me..
Without a doubt in modern history the 90’s has the greatest music ..60’s ok 70’s poor 80’s terrible 90’s insanely good ..since then pretty shit…hope the 20’s are good again.

i hate that we have to relate the beautiful colors of the rainbow with lgbti nowadays. i truly hate that.
Hey hey hey
Hitler hasn't been edited out of videos so why should Savile ????
My sister loved Vienna so much it's all I remember blaring out of her room!! I consequently hated it almost as much as the sight of Saville who even when I was a 9 year old kid gave me the creeps! Just something about his aura that screams "wrong un!". Hey! Saville! Leave them kids alone!!
OHHH VIENNAAAA
THE one to define 80s- It derailed later.
midge ure wtf looks he raided village people wardrobe
Ha Ha WTF is Midge Ure wearing LoL I had forgotten about that scene ha ha ha

Vienna, beaten to number 1 by Shuddup yo face, war crime.
O F it be savile
I get the impression that the BBC aren't interested in showing totp anymore if their bizarre decision in running off the 1981 programmes are anything to go by, ie showing 2 episodes on consecutive nights. What happens when they eventually show the final 1981 edition sometime in mid year? Are they then going to proceed to 1982 or just quietly shelve it and hope viewers don't kick up over it?
I've noticed bbc 4 showeing 1981 totp episodes great see old 80s noticed few episodes missing cause saville
I do know jimmy Seville was a monster, no question about it! However DLT was treated rather harshly. It nice to see it as the BBC may not show it. I agree with the comments below. I found out the whole shows was on YouTube via the popscence website which has all of the information on all top of the pops episodes shows.
When it goes close up facial on Midge he looks like some 70's copper!
Love the soft fuzzy focus on Ultravox, unless it's just an aged VHS?!
My favourite song and band ever!
I remember going to a gig Nr Lancaster with guest DJ being David Kid Jenson, some of the girls there that night with us were desperate to spend a night with him, trying to find out where he was staying etc. I wonder how many of them would now complain if they had indeed spent a night with him.
I cant help but feel some of these stars have been taken advantage of, DONT GET ME WRONG, the likes of Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall, Rolf Harris & co have much to answer too and deserve what they get
Hey Mark parts 2 & 3 don't work, re-upload them?
I agree that Savile was a vile individual but I am not going to do a BBC an pretend he never existed. As for DLT feel the BBC have been exceptionally harsh towards him. After all he was found NOT guilty of all charges bar one. Even then it was not deemed serious enough for a custodial sentence. The BBC have no continuing right to block DLT's appearances after October 2016 when his suspended sentence expires. If they do so after this date their blocking of his appearances amounts to discrimination for which DLT could do a "Jonathan King" (another vile individual) by demanding an apology from the BBC as to why his editions are not shown when his sentence has been "spent".
I hope BBC Four can show this episode when it's due to air at the end of next year. It wouldn't take much to edit Saville out the beginning and end.
midge always makes 'fashion' faux-pas, check out what he wore on live aid 1985 whilst singing the same song.
Nice to see the late, great Jimmy Savile on here. Respect!
Christmas number one in 1981: Just Like Starting Over – John Lennon and 1982: Don't You Want Me – Human League. They didn't seem like Christmas NO1's at the time, with the Falklands war looming, and more in depth and up to date with the times.
Love Reward by Teardrop Explodes, I was 9 when I bought this x
cracking music though
oh dear this will never be shown on bbc4
Despite some comments asking me to remove content which contains Jimmy SaVILE I will NOT be doing so. Yes what he did was 100% wrong but I am not going to sink to the levels of BBC censoring by "airbrushing" history and pretend he never existed. Due to what has happened this episode of TOTP will NEVER be repeated again on UK TV. When BBC four get up to this point in time they will simply skip this edition of TOTP. on go onto the next one. If only the BBC could edit him out and repeat it….
Maybe he lost a wager. Lol
That's what I thinking. It was the 80s, but what the bloody hell! To each their own?
Why is the bloke in the first song wearing a skirt? I mean come, even 32 years ago a bloke in a skirt (unless he's Scottish) is a bit weird.
Midge Ure, what were you thinking of love, you look gay!
I thought it was Sid Snot.
