I found out about this a few years ago. I though wtf?
So many good looking women.
Most of these images are bordering on pornographic. Troubling that no one has commented on it. Fantastic cover of a Zep song by the way.
Funny how top of the pops theme tune was a cover of a band who never had a single in the charts or appeared on top of the pops
The very early ones into the mid-70s were definitely covers. I have a couple of them. Not sure about the late 70s into the 80s? They are kind of cult now
Babs, DeeDee, Louise, Ruth and Cherry perhaps?…
My whole childhood just flashed past me.
With a strangely unexpected series of erections… :oD …
Were these compilations the original tracks? Or covers?
And you are 100% perfectly right!
I got my 45 right beside me, I intended to upload it, but it's no use now. I see there's at least three different posts of it here… Checking is never useless.
Thanks for the video, now I have to elect my own Miss TOTP.
Heresy maybe, but this just maybe one of those tunes that might surpass the original…Just a thought. Peace.
As a Jethro Tull fan i can say 100%, that this is Harold McNair of CCS playing the flute and not Ian Anderson.
あった!あった!C・C・S、ツェッペリン"胸いっぱいの愛を"~ソウル・ファンキー強力ブラスロックスタイルでカバー、悪くなかった!
at 2.09 a goodloocking woman , woman in red i love you ,
@mrralvintwerp ,.Spot on! A nice accompaniment to the mail order catalogue of the day!
@marmite400 ,.Sad, but true! Over 40 years later, & the tune still Rocks like it was made yesterday!
Sometimes, this was the best tune on the show!
@hants68….and why not, as he possessed a great voice!
@jonnyb69able ,Always knew him as an incredible front man, but had no idea of his name!. Not able to answer your question, but now know Jethro Tull's Flutist!. Cheers!
At first (after seeing this subject mentioned in other posts), I thought Page lifted this riff from CCS, but after digging deeper and referring to Wikipedia it was the other way around. CCS did a remake/remix of the classic Zeppelin tune.
Well done to all parties involved.
It was fun looking at all of the TOTP album covers. Fun Post.
@01sapphireGTS,Appreciate you taking time to add a little info and opinion on this timeless masterpiece.
Wikipedia: CCS are best known for their instrumental version of Led Zeppelin's 1969 track "Whole Lotta Love", which got into in the UK Singles Chart in 1970, and was used as the theme music for the BBC pop programme Top of the Pops for most of the 1970s, and, in a remixed version, between 1997 and 2003. . .
This sounds to me like Jethro Tull collaborated with Chicago and they covered a Led Zeppelin tune.
Pretty cool effort by CCS, and that intoxicating/driving guitar riff is great. I'm sure being covered by Robert & Jimmy was never on the mind of CCS when they made this. . .
By far the best totp theme tune.
