Obviously you aren't taking your own advice Sean. Remember: HiFi is all fake. Reviews are of fake music. Reviewers are fake.(no offense). You're taking this whole thing far too seriously. It's just entertainment. Take a chill pill and enjoy the hobby for a change. It'snot a competition, or is it? Look after the important stuff: Mental, physical and spiritual health:-)
Howdy Sean from Australia. Thanks for sharing your personal issues surrounding your health. Take time off for yourself. No need to perform for us, particularly if it is stressing your issue. I would feel better watching your material knowing that you are not jumping through hoola hoops of discomfort just to please us. Best wishes for you sean.
There's no need to take you YT habit so seriously especially since you're not totally relying on it for income. If it's not fun there's no point in doing especially if it's affecting your health.
Sean, I really appreciate all your posts and all the listening work that you put in to make them as honest, entertaining and informative as you do. Mr SG, Mr JD and you are the best IMHO and all encourage me to expand my audio horizons. Nonetheless, without your health you have nothing (as my mamgu used to say). So I respectfully ask that you take some time to rest and get well for a while……. we'll all still be waiting when you return fighting fit. Peace, love and understanding Paul.
I greatly enjoy all aspects of your channel, reviews and commentary, so best wishes for a healthy 2021 and take care of yourself and dont do the stressful videos. Any way you roll is fine with your fans.
My wife suffers from this. Take care of yourself, mother is right, health is everything! The problem is a bodily function issue, you are not doing anything to cause it, but stress can make it worse. Like any chronic issue, there is trial and error process to dealing with it. Lots of good info in the comments, do follow up on them.
As another person commented, , drinking A little Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with cold water also works for my reflux – antacids seem to make it worse over time. Also, when I am talking a lot or singing seems to make it worse for me. It may not all be stress, and if the HI-FI gig isn't fun – you definitely aren't doing it right!
Hey man, Definitely do what's best for you and your quality of life. I'm sure many people think being a Youtuber is an easy life, but in reality it's not. Time, reputation, and Work are always factors of any worthy profession. So what we believe should take x amount of hours increases when we factor in the aforementioned. What you said about Hi-fi gear being part of mental health is true. I often feel like that and had to stray from that after marriage and a child. Ron from New Record Day can relate, but in the end as you said it shouldn't be our lives or mental health. Lol I'm still chasing the Hi-Fi dragon, but with every Hi-Fi purchase I only find myself getting used to it and wanting more, like a bad drug. So I'm a work in progress. But as an RN, I want you to have fun, enjoy your gear with friends even though your home may look like a warehouse. I'm sure Thomas has a cramped warehouse too, but this doesn't have to be a lonely hobby. Even guys into model railroading or cars love sharing their hobby, so work and pleasure can be rewarding. When things or work shut you down is when it's no longer fun. But I definitely understand your struggles and hope that you and your MD's can get you on a plan to health. Definitely stress management, diet, and maybe an adjustable bed that can put you at 30 degrees may help while you sleep. God bless and Godspeed. I definitely appreciate what you guys do for our hobby.
Sean, reflux esophagitis is a complex issue, especially in someone so young. I am a thoracic surgeon and I suggest strongly that you consider evaluation by a dedicated specialist. This is not a problem that is well handled by a generalist. The best man I know is James Luketich, MD in Pittsburgh. He is Chairman of the Department at Pitt and the world's authority. You would do well to see him. Best of luck to you.
I suffer from GERD mixed with anxiety. I had a severe hiatal hernia that caused something similar to what you are dealing with where your "flap" will remain open. I had a procedure called a Nissen Fundoplication and it's help me quite a bit. My worst episodes are if I eat later than I should and lay down. Totally worth asking a GI doctor about and they will probably get you a proper endoscope done if you have not already had one. Seriously, DM me if you want some perspective on dealing with it, I have dealt with Reflux disease since my teens, I'm 46 now. Like you anxiety also makes it flare, and I've had some medical intervention on that which has helped reduce it quite a bit.

Hi,
I really like you videos, your analysis are really great – Don't give up. Hope you get well quickly :-D. What is your take on the Dali Rubicon 8?
You need a relaxing hobby. Maybe listen to some music? A small stereo system can be a pleasant diversion.

Hi Sean! Looks like you are pairing some KEF with the IOTAVX back there? How does the SA3 deal with those 85dB speakers?

Your best video so far!!
I'm sure everyone will continue watching because of your knowledge and honesty! Take care of yourself!
Yep, indeed you're getting old … but it beats the alternative!

Good for you!

There is surgery that can correct that. Had it and so far so good. Called TIF, Transoral incisionless fundoplication. Might work for you!!
