1:46. I agree with that. What album was the first to have a shit ton of features, rather than just a few if any. At a certain point a "solo" album became a super crew album.what started that trend? Puff Daddy & the Family? Dr. Dre's The Chronic?
The Aftermath from Da Youngstas (1993) had beats from premier, pete, marley marl & the beatnuts. Granted, wasn't as good as illmatic, but illmatic was not the first rap album to have a bunch of super producers
Vlad is and idiot. No shit he is not going to be the same. Once he made it is perspective changed a little. You keep talking about this hungry kid. He was 19. Like damn u fuckin idiot
Damn, I never realized that all those superstar producers worked on that album. No wonder it has always been, to me, the best work of hip hop, Ever. Full Stop. From start to finish.
you never make another great hip hop album with these plugins, programs. Beats based on great musicians of the past make things. In that sampled beats on vinyl was a soul of that musicians. Also analog sound of consoles, tapes, vynil makes thing. Now you write your beats on computers, but you can't play music. You write those notes in the sequencer. Or use sample libraries. It doesn't sound good. So hip hop died with that new technology in the 2000. Also artsists are not hungry right now. Make them living like in 90s and you'll get new illmatic
ILLMATIC IS NAS' CURSE. ASKING NAS TO MAKE ANOTHER ILLMATIC IS LIKE ASKING LEONARDO DA VINCI TO MAKE ANOTHER MONA LISA. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. ILLMATIC IS THE PINNACLE OF HIP HOP.
The biggest problem with Nas records after illmatic has always been beats… ANY time Nas links up with Premo or Large Pro the track is classic. Dont get me wrong tho Life is good had NO ID which was fantastic but besides NO ID the other beats were average and not that Nas style you get with a Premo or Large Pro beat or even Alchemist which he used like 1nce or twice. A DREAM nas album would have Premo, Large Pro, Rza, Alchemist, NO ID, and some ol J Dilla never heard before..
When there's no struggle, no pain, it's hard to put emotion behind each line of your rhymes. When you're living good, no worriers you can't really do much besides storytell (which Nas is a beast at anyways).
I'm sitting here crying of laughter, the guy in the hat is tweeking the entire video and looks like he's fixing to do something bad and Premo looks all nervous like he's talking to feds with crack in his pocket.
Damn What Ever Happen To Nick javas??
On IT WAS WRITTEN, he was more hungry
you see how preem looking at vlad lol
You always had to wait for years and years
If nas was motivated he would be da best but he be on lazy stuff
Vlad be like "My couch that guests sit down on so I can interview them is better than Nas."

The Aftermath from Da Youngstas (1993) had beats from premier, pete, marley marl & the beatnuts. Granted, wasn't as good as illmatic, but illmatic was not the first rap album to have a bunch of super producers

I enjoyed hearing premier talk about q-tip and couldn't allow him to outdo him.

I totally agree with Vlad on Nas after ILLMATIC…
I miss Nas and AZ rapping together.
nothin like illmatic. at 20 too, nas is somethin
illmatic 2 with all the same producers….that would be crazy
ILLMATIC IS NAS' CURSE. ASKING NAS TO MAKE ANOTHER ILLMATIC IS LIKE ASKING LEONARDO DA VINCI TO MAKE ANOTHER MONA LISA. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. ILLMATIC IS THE PINNACLE OF HIP HOP.
Didn't nas say he was going to do a whole album with preemo after the new album?
i love it was written
