I am a dark skinned woman who remembers every negative comment about my skin from kids, family and grown men and women all my life. But, I also remember the Italian man who told me how beautiful my dark skin is at the age of 14 after hearing some grown black men call me a ugly dark bitch. I will never forget that moment.

I actually believe that colorism begans with the Black mothers. It’s us that use terms like pretty hair and skin. It's easier to sit behind a keyboard and insult the innocent than to take a look at themselves and realize that there is something severely wrong with them.
