Yes and no. The same logic can be applied to any genre of music. In Metal, you have artists like Iron Maiden, Tool, 80s Slayer, Agalloch and Opeth, but you also have artists like Limp Bizkit, Six feet Under, a lot the hair metal bands of the 80s, Asking Alexandria's and FFDP. The same can be said for Pop. You have artists like Lorde, Björk, Kate Bush, Charlie XCX, Beach House, Julia Holter and you also have artists like Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat and One Direction.

Corey is so right. Corey almost died and only has 6 million subs. Pop music is just a person going into a computer and earring 1 billion views and 30 million subs for it. It is shameful.
There are some good pop artists out there. I think corey is talking about people like justin beiber and shawn mendes. Dancepop, Electropop, bubblegum pop are definitely some of the worst forms of pop music. But there are some good pop genres too like power pop, prog pop, experimental pop, dream pop, baroque pop etc. Lana del rey is an excellent artist. Same with bjork(if people know her). And lately, there's this japanese artist rina sawayama who fuses modern pop with nu metal. She is worth checking out. In conclusion, I will say that it is not pop music that sucks, it is the mainstream music that sucks.

There is excellent pop that is not autotuned or modified/perfected by machines. It is not fair to dismiss an entire genre based on the shit the mainstream media focus on. There is good in every genre you just have to hunt and always have done. Obvs there are exceptions that get through which are fine.
The interviewer need not be there, me wasn't trying to engage or explore of further clarify the sweeping statements Corey was coming out with. – He may as well have asked Corey if there was anything he could do for him. + It is not Corey's job or anyone elses to save music, it doesn't need saving there is loads of good stuff around. What the masses need is encouragement not to behave like sheep and explore music for themselves. Rant over
