The rap-rock genre really started with Anthrax & Public Enemy, but it was only for one song. The Beastie's Check Your Head (1992) was really based more on funk, were Ill Communication (1994) incorporated more of their old punk sound on a few tracks.

Don't need to hear this argument, because it's right and righteous.
No doubt there are counter-arguments, but they are from fools who don't know shit.

White privilege had nothing to do with getting booked for Madonna tour. Madonna wanted Run DMC but they wanted too much money. So they asked Russell Simmons if the Fat Boys could do it and Russell said they were busy and offered the Beasties even though Russell didn’t even manage the fat boys.

Once again, I wholeheartedly agree with your excellent analysis on why the Beasties are the greatest rap group of all time.

I was thinking about this same topic recently. It's really in the diversity of their music. There's punk tracks, rap, disco, rock, alternative, funk, R&B, grunge, techno – and then they put it all in a blender and out comes their own unique sound. That is raw talent.

You should qualify your title with, "Greatest Group of all time, in the Hip Hop and Rap world". That's it, and I have liked the Beasties since I heard them in the early 80's.

Beasties always promoted & supported up and coming Hip Hop acts. From Day 1. AD Rock & Rubin were listening to demos in his dorm. Trying to find someone that sounded like Kool Moe Dee. AD Rock played LL Cool J for Rubin. Rest is history. Beasties had Public Enemy & Cypress Hill open for them. Giving those acts the break they needed.

They toured non-stop for 2yrs on License to Ill. They wanted a break, but Russell Simmons wanted a License to Ill 2. Simmons said they wouldn’t pay them their near $7million in royalties if they didn’t do record. Beasties thought they were friends. Realized Simmons just used them to cross over to white audiences. For the money. That’s why they split from Def Jam

another rap group like the Beastie Boys. But, if So, I hope the next group will treat Hip-Hop
with all the love and respect as the Beasties did.
And THIS documentary needs to be archived in the Hall Of Fame, hands Down! Preach it Brother!

The BEASTIE BOYS are not only one of my favorite hip hop bands, they are also one of my all-time favorite music groups as well. I've always felt a close connection with these cats because we are all the same age, we are all from NYC, we share a lot of the same interests, and they've toured with some of my personal homies ( FISHBONE and HOUSE OF PAIN). I cried more than once, when MCA passed away. I've been down with these dudes since 1986. My homie shark, a strong black street brutha from the hood, turned me on to their single "SHE'S ON IT!". I think that the BEASTIE BOYS are one of the funkiest and most talented group of rappers to ever come out in the game! They are true pioneers in the art, fashion, culture and style of hip hop. I consider them to be music intellectuals. They've always shown so much respect for hip hop. And they're humble as well. They are also solid musicians, and can play and jam, many different styles of music very well. In terms of the rap game, they are some of the first cats to rap about mad sex, clownin' broads, drugs usage, street crimes, gangster shit and violence in a very blatant and open way! They even influenced gangster rappers NWA, EAZY E and CYPRESS HILL. I think that they are a lot better than SLIM SHADY can ever dream to be period! The fact that they are white rappers worked to their advantage as well. However, if it were not for RUN DMC putting them down, they would have never had the respect in the rap game within the black audiences. That gave them all the street credit that they needed in a desperate way. They also tried VERY HARD to be like RUN DMC, because they were the kings of the rap game at that time! And by the way, it was RUN DMC that created the hip hop/rock sound back in 1983, with classic tracks like: "ROCK BOX" and later with the: "KING OF ROCK." Don't ever forget that! I've watched your videos in the past, and you're always making the horrible mistake of crowning white rappers as being the best in the game! All white rappers need a great rapper (That's black) to bring them into this game, for that desperate street cred to validate them. For the BEASTIES, it was the great RUN DMC, 3rd BASS just tried really hard to be black rappers, and just hung out with all black people, for EVERLAST it was ICE T, and for EMINEM it was DR.DRE. The BEASTIE BOYS are fuckin' hype, but being white rappers will always help with record sales period!
