Each tile has the same simple rule – if you see a neighbor blink, then increase your urge to blink by 10%. From that simple rule comes such an amazing result!

in a confined system, a/all travelling wave(s) will spontaneously sync/turn into standing waves.

Do they sync at 10 cycles each time because you set them to increase their "need" by 10%?

Pretty straightforward to show stability of synchronous solutions using coupled oscillator theory. Source: I specialize in coupled oscillator theory.
EDIT: I see the paper you linked now. As expected they discuss everything in terms of phase. Very nice. BTW, with small changes to the code you could make a traveling wave down a line, or have 3 that "spiral" towards synchrony using more slightly different types of "coupling" that go beyond simple light pulses (as you know). A lot of this stuff has been fleshed out in terms of theory.

I'm not sure if I really understand what's amazing here. You essentially told it to increase its likihood of blinking by 10% each time it reads a blink from another device. I assume when it blinks or reads a blink that it's internal timer is reset due to the jump in code. So by the time 10 blinks have gone by, this likelihood of blinking is already at 100% and their timers synchronized due to the reset after each blink. To me, this is expected behavior just from the code alone.

Fascinating. My knee-jerk hypothesis was actually, (and I'm surprised by this as I didn't assign very much value to the hypothesis, as I had a lot of doubt because my ignorance) was in the ballpark or the ballpark's parking lot.

I like to make hypothesis and theory, assign a value based on the facts I have of which I can apply to it and then see where I went wrong…

All I had before hand was sniffing around a dumpster of information surrounding something that I perceive is a natural law of motion and conservation that's also encourages biological systems to take the path of least resistance and to the same is applied here… Roughly? Or precisely? now I feel as though I am hypothesis borderlining on Theory and more confidence but not complete confidence.

With a biological organism, taking in a potential energy flow, even if it is in the form of information and thereby neurological processing is required to acknowledge the energy flow or stimuli and when this occurs it's difficult to also produce output and this is part of the reason why multitasking proves problematic for individuated processing systems.

I've also noticed that when I get in a flow State and I enter a level of high-end information output, that's all that exists and there's little to no information intake and then people think I have something wrong with my memory because I don't remember 30 seconds ago in an efficiently acknowledging capacity.

Now our brains are quite different then the tech at hand but not all that different.

Something else I've observed just that once I have two skills specialized to the point of neurological muscle memory, I can do those two things at the same time with that maximized output flow and I get the goldfish memory that comes along with that but I do occasionally express high-level multitasking.

Interestingly, and perhaps obvious to some but when I am capable of this sort of multitasking of to highly specialized applications of the brain, they use different parts of the brain and so there is no conflict in demanding cascadel roadways.

Another ponderance I have been having as of late, is the relationship between quantum mechanical laws and the exchange or transfer between wave and solidified formations, perceivably as they may be, and how it possibly unilaterally overlays on information processing as a tangible energy transfer and our brains then I'm applying that to the conceptualization of what I'm referring to as quantum psychology.

Any other truly brilliant people alive out there that give a fuck about such multidisciplinary subject matter?

As I scream into the void of my intellectual impotence… As I fire radio wave transmission into the watering holes of the internet with the acknowledgement that only the digital archaeologist 500 years from now or Google's neural net mapping of which will produce a I will be the only forms that will give a fuck about anything I have to say? LMAO

I just did a bunch of psychedelics, getting in touch with nature. That sort of stuff. So this makes perfect sense. Simple code. Nothing complex. A basic underlying unity to all things, using nothing but pulsating light to connect things and making them sync together.

My favorite kinda stuff! The YouTube recommendation algorithm knows me too well lol (this isn't quite the type chaotic emergent behaviour like the game of life of mandelbrot set or any of the chaos theory stuff I've been interested in lately, but I definitely see the common thread and why you're excited about it!). Just be careful not to make them group up into a world-ending Von Neumann machine next lol.

Okay I'm immediately seeing potential uses for this. It would be awesome for cosplay armor. Maybe get a group of friends you guys have different colors blinking at different rates but when you pose together in a group you all begin to blink in unison. Another idea, I saw this in the comments, car blinkers when stopped at a light could synchronize

Stop using the word "urge", you as a human have urges, your toys are following commands! The program you wrote instructs them to blink, they are also able to detect the blinking of the other toys that are in close proximity, and then speak to each other to blink before one another, until they synchronize! The only thing extraordinary is the human conscious behind the building of the toys!

When they can show love and compassion towards one another, that will be amazing!!

This is basically how ants work ! They have no leaders, its all syncing like this . Basically they release smells that can mean for example "found some food" and if an ant meets several ants with that signal it will switch to "food mode" and search in that direction. If ut starts meeting ants that signal "under attack!" It will switch to "defend mode"

Imagine that instead of synchronizing when they get together they synchronize when they separate. Imagine that they are quantum entangled. It means that if they are scattered throughout the galaxy, they will … Imagine that apart from synchronizing their lights, they form geometric patterns. Isn't this the reality of the subatomic particles of the universe? How simple would it be to write that program?
