Wow. This was made before Cardi B won best rap album. After that there isn’t any argument anymore. It’s just a fact that hip hop doesn’t need the grannies because that was some bullshit.

While I do respect how far Rap/Hip Hop has come, Rock and Metal have had much worse for so long. In the 2016 Grammys, the Best Rock Song wasn't even televised. And most of the Rock nominees these days aren't even Rock, bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queen, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Motörhead, Guns and Roses, The Doors, Nirvana and so many others have been snubbed and robbed (Bruce Springsteen didn't even win Album of the Year for Born in the USA and David Bowie didn't even get nominated once in his career until after his death). They see Rock and Metal as dangerous and harmful, so what do they do? They have all the Rock and Metal categories on the Pre Show that no one watches (ON THE GODDAMN PRE SHOW!!!)

In 1986 Metallica's Master of Puppets came out (their third and greatest album). Went Platinum but never nominated (I could forgive that). In 1988 they released their fourth album And Justice for All after the death of their bassist. They were nominated in 1989 for best hard rock and metal performance (finally) but losses to Jethro Tull, a progressive folk/country band (seriously). It has been known as one of the greatest snubs in Grammy history, in 1991 they released The Black Album and were nominated in 1992, and thankfully they won but they only did that as an apology for what happened last time not because they thought they actually deserved it. And of course when Metallica performed with Lady Gaga at the Grammys in 2017, they lowered James Hetfield's mic (the lead singer) just so the audience could focus more on Lady Gaga. James was rightfully pissed and Metallica might not ever perform at the Grammys agin (which I don't blame them).

Point is even to this very day Rock and Metal have been disrespected by the Grammys. Hell, the entire mainstream media has disrespected it for decades. It's only rare when you see a band like Nirvana come in and completely wipe everyone else out, especially today. The only bands that aren't in the Pre Show and get nominated and perform at the Grammys are Metallica, and even they get disrespected even when they get invited thinking that they can win. Hip/Hop may have been snubbed in the past but at least things are getting better, where as Rock and Metal keep taking it up the ass just like as always. Be grateful Rap's getting recognised because Rock/Metal aren't and there's a lot of good talent out there too. Chris Cornell won a Grammy after his death and his kids accepted it at the Pre Show, it was a heartwarming speech in front of so many empty seats, it was quite sad really. It should have been at the main show, but great video none the less, I will be watching more.

“You think if U2 or Foo Fighters lost a member And came back they’d get snubbed? Nah.” Well, Slipknot lost their bassist and founding member back in 2010 then finally dropped a new album, named after him in 2014, and while they did get a nomination, they lost to fucking Muse

The thing about these awards is I think that there are certain aspects that come as a result of winning, maybe guaranteed industry support of some kind. I dont think its just a case of simply wanting an award to polish at home.

ill be honest, im just beginning to get in to hip-hop and rap, im more of metal head, but i can honestly say, hip-hop and rap do not need the Grammys, just like hip-hop and rap, metal has been shit on by the Grammys just as much, if not more, but it has survived through the power of the fans. The Grammys will never get things right.
